    Hi!
I’m looking for information about hockey in West Asia and Middle East
Where can I find the list of PRO teams and how can I make contact with them?
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks!

I can give you the list of pro teams in the Middle East and West Asia right now:

    .

    Yep. That's it, right there.

    There are none.

There are a number of amateur clubs, the majority of which are actually expat clubs formed by (mainly) North Americans to be able to play some hockey while working in those nations.

There are, more recently, clubs formed by native players in those same nations, many of whom learned the game from the expats. Those native hockey communities are for the most part very much in their infancy, but as we see from competitions such as the Gulf Championship and Arab Cup, the game is growing!

I realise they're pretty good. But they didn't even win the Emirates Hockey League this year! Lost the final 4-0 to Al Ain Vipers.

Still, those clubs are far from professional hockey.

Great to see the Gulf States getting into international competition and their development moving on from being ex-pat based.

UAE and Kuwait seem to be well established now ( politics aside !! ) and we've seen Bahrain, Oman and Saudi Arabia get started recently. Now Qatar are going to play in the Asian Winter Games. This is all great news but surely these new sides would be better playing each other. A tournament with Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Qatar would help them all gain valuable experience without sustaining heavy losses.

    Cheers

Good to see a second GCC Champs being held. Bahrain in and Saudi Arabia out, still no Qatar.

    Interesting interview here ;

    http://www.nationalteamsoficehockey....9_2014/Blog256

Hopes for another GCC event and more opportunities for Oman and Qatar to develop national teams.

What happened to Saudi Arabia's program ? They seem to have disappeared after a promising show at the 2010 GCC event.

Nothing firm. Think Oman will be there for the third time and Qatar will make their debut. Bahrain played in the Desert Cup in Doha so will hopefully play. Heard nothing about Saudi national team since the 2010 event so guess they are unlikely to play.

    Full schedule on NToIH

Kuwait is organizing it. Only the 4 IIHF members are participating. It's a shame Bahrein can't make. Only a few days ago it seems they were going to be there.

    First day results being reported as ;

    UAE 4-1 Qatar
    Kuwait 6-0 Oman

I have not found an original source or any scoring details.

Looks like a good start by Qatar and a strong show from hosts, Kuwait.

As expected UAE win the cup for a third straaight time with a 5-0 victory over Kuwait.

Qatar reverse their defeat in the round robin with a 7-2 victory over Oman for third place.

Hope to see either, or both, of Oman and Qatar in the CCoA 2015.

Kind of surprised Qatar pulled it off considering their weak showing throughout the tournament, but glad nonetheless.

Unlike the last two tournaments before this, I was disappointed in the organization of stats. There have always been stats published online (like the IIHF uses), but all we got is scores, which, half the time, contradicted depending on which publication/website you looked at.

Wouldn't hurt to take UAE out of the tournament. They just put on a beating each time. Kind of like how Canada was MUCH better than everyone at the Pan-Am Games a few months back.

2016 Gulf Championship started yesterday in Doha.
Two tournament favourites have started well. Kuwait demolished Oman 17-1 and UAE won Qatar 10-0. Suprisingly big win for Kuwait. They played against Oman and won 5-0 last years Asian Challenge Cup.
Seems that Kuwait has a strong team. They had a training camp in Sweden also.
Itīs a pitty that Bahrain donīt participate. They played last years Desert Cup although. And sad that Saudi Arabia national team is not active anymore. They first and last played in Gulf Cup in 2010 and since then no news about them.

Qatar won Kuwait 5-3 on semi-final, this is suprise to me, I didnīt expect that happened.
Hopefully they will play this years Asian Challenge Cup as well. They are in the entry list right now according to IIHF page, hope that Oman also join them.

Surprise to me too. First time that KUW failed to make the final of this event after being runners-up to UAE on the three previous occasions.

QAT are still scheduled to compete in the CCoA in Kyrgyzstan and on this form should do well. OMA didn't enter this year as they couldn't afford to travel. Hopefully they'll be back in 2017.

UAE beat QAT 5-0 in the final.
KUW beat OMA 5-4 for 3rd place ( having earlier beaten them 17-1 !! ).
