	13.29	Adler Mannheim has signed Ahren Spylo to fill in for injured striker Yannic Seidenberg. Spylo played for Vityaz Chekhov in the KHL last season.
	10.45	Mattias Weinhandl, the Swedish scoring leader of the KHL has agreed to extend his contract with Dynamo Moscow for one more season. Weinhandl leads to KHL with 29 points (13+16) in 24 games.
	08.20	Ak Bars Kazan has signed Finnish goaltender, Petri Vehanen (32) to a two-year contract. Vehanen will replace Mikael Tellqvist which had a less than successful season with the KHL champion. Vehanen has previously played in Russia for Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk in 2006-07.
	07.45	Forward Mike Souza, member of Blue team, is back in Cortina to replace fired Kevin Truelson. Souza, 31, played in Cortina during last three season

	22.44	Brendan Shanahan (40) has retired after 21 seasons in the NHL. Shanahan was a three-time Stanley Cup Winner (1997, 1998, 2002) with Detroit Red Wings, participated in 8 NHL All Stars games and played in total 1524 games in the NHL scoring 656 goals and posting 698 assists. He is positioned just outside top 10 on the all-time NHL scoring leader list.
	20.23	CSKA Moscow has agreed with Columbus Blue Jackets to loan Russian top prospect, Nikita Filatov for the rest of the season.
	17.24	Peter Forsberg, courted by many NHL and KHL clubs, eventually decided to play for MODO for the rest of the season. Forsberg's decision also triggered the comeback of Markus Näslund. MODO has furthermore signed Forsberg's former Colorado Avalanche teammate, Dan Hinote.
	13.24	Lada Togliatti's financial crisis has led to the departure of goaltender Basil Koshechkin to Metallurg Magnitogorsk. Several other players, including Slovak national team player Roman Kukumberg, have threathened to leave the team unless they receive their salaries.
	12.53	Mikhail Zakharov has been appointed as the new head coach of Belarus. Zakharov, replacing Glen Hanlon who resigned one week ago, has been the coach of Yunost Minsk for ten years. He has won the Belorussian title four times with Yunost Minsk (2004, 2005, 2006, 2009), the IIHF Continental Cup (2007) and been named as the Coach of the Year three times.

	13.16	former NHL'er, Matthew Spiller failed to land a contract with HC Liberec. Spiller played eight games for Liberec on a tryout without tallying any points.

	13.06	Zigmund Palffy (HK36 Skalica) will line up for HC Karlovy Vary in the 2009 Spengler Cup. Karlovy Vary will also be reinforced with defenseman Zdenek Kutlak who normally plays for HC Ambri Piotta.
	12.11	Forward Peter Pucher returns to the Slovak Extraliga after more than ten years in the Czech Extraliga. Pucher has had a dismal season with Kometa Brno (3 points in 15 games) and has now signed with HKM Zvolen

	14.56	Kometa Brno has terminated its contract with Slovak striker Peter Pucher. After 10 years in the Czech Extraliga, Pucher will return to Slovakia and play for Hkm Zvolen for the rest of the season.
	08.00	Groningen Grizzlies has added two players for the upcoming Dutch league, namely defenseman Chad Euverman (f. Chamonix, FRA) and goaltender Wyatt Russell (f. EHC Timmendorfer, Regionalliga Nord GER)). Russell is the son of the famous American actors Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn. Forward Alexander Hult left Amstel Tigers returned to his native Sweden for private reasons The Tigers will be looking for a replacement.

	19.28	41 year old Canadian, Mark Pederson (coach of Tilburg Trappers (NED) has signed a two-year contract with the Serbian hockey association to become the headcoach of Serbia. Pederson will make his debut as a national coach when Serbia plays two games vs Romania in February.
	19.27	Heerenveen Flyers has signed Eindhoven Kemphanen's former captain, Brent Patry. After posting 52 points (14+38) last season, Patry attempted to make it to the Johnston Chiefs (ECHL), but his tryout didn't lead to a contract. Patry's contract with Heerenveen follows the departure of Aleksandr Terjohin who has returned to Latvia for family reasons.
	19.27	Sergei Kokoin (f. Mechel Chelyabinsk) replaced Sergei Makhinko as the head coach of Kazakhmys Satpaev. Kazakhmys is currently placed last in the Kazakhstan league.
	19.26	Following yesterday's defeat to TKH Toruń, Ciarko KH Sanok has fired its Slovakian coach, Josef Skokan. Ľubomír Roháčik, another Slovak, who coached Sanok from December to season's end last year, has been appointed as the team's new head coach.
	14.58	Jaromir Jagr has been added to Avangard Omsk's IR list. Jagr is suffering from back problems and is expected to be out for at least three weeks. His participation in the 2010 Olympics does not seem to be in jeopardy.

	12.17	The Braehead Pirates has dropped out of the Celtic League due to lack of ice time in the Braehead arena. The Pirates still participates in the Northern League and the league fixtures will be reorganized so that the team can complete its game schedule.
	12.16	The Disciplinary Committee of the Polish Hockey Association has overruled the Hockey Association's decision to impose a one year suspension for Krystian Dziubiński and Marcin Kolusz who engaged in a fight after the IHWC in Toruń in April. The two players are thus cleared to play for their team, Podhale Nowy Targ with immediate effect.

	16.03	Sokol Kiev's financial crisis has aggravated and the players haven't received their salaries in the past three months. Several of the team's players have already signed with other clubs: defenseman Yuri Navarenko and forward Artem Gnidenko have signed with HK Vibtebsk (RUS-1), defenseman Oleg Blagoj to Neman Grodno (BLR), Dmitri Tolnukov to Yunost Minsk (BLR), Roman Blagoj to Gornyak Rudny (KAZ) and Denis Khonin to Berkut Kiev. Among the most notable players, Sergei Klimentiev has received an offer from Vityaz Chekhov to come back to the KHL while Sergei Varlamov is expected to sign with Belarusian champion, Yunost Minsk.
	13.05	Traktor Chelyabinsk terminated its contract with Czech defenseman Jan Platil for disciplinary reasons. Member of board Andrei Kosilov said: "We formed a team of hockey players, not boxers. In an extremely short time he has earned quite a lot of disciplinary penalties". Platil's future is unknown, but there are are rumors that he may move to Barys Astana, another KHL team.
	12.48	Czech Extraliga: American forward Dennis Packard unsuccessfully ended his tryout with Liberec and leaves the team after one month. HC Karlovy Vary signs Latvian defenseman, Atvars Tribuncovs (who was also on tryout) for the rest of the season.
	12.42	Finnish goalie Tuukka Rask signs a 2,5 million two-years contract extension with Boston Bruins. Drafted by Toronto Maple Leafs in 2005, he is playing his third season in Boston
	12.38	Forward Ben Eaves decided at 27 to end his career because of persistent problems with his knees. Drafted by Pittsburgh in 2001, he never played in NHL, but had 2 successfull season in Finland with Espoo Blues. He signed this season for AHL's Milwaukee Admirals.
	12.33	Kladno coach Zdeněk Müller offered his resignation due to team's poor results, but club management decided to continue with him: "Two years ago our patience paid and we believe that this is now. We're playing better than two years ago." said GM Otakar Černý

	09.49	Stoczniowiec Gdańsk signed today 2 years deal with Czech forward Jan Steber. In 2004 he was drafted by Toronto Meaple Leafs (Round 8, #252), but he never played in NHL. Last seasons he played in Ocelari Trinec and was loaned to lower's leagues teams: HC Prostejov, Havirov Panthers and Salith Stumperk.

	12.31	Mojmír Trličík has been appointed assistant coach of Kometa Brno. He replaces Václav Baďoučk who resigned last saturday. Trličík has previously been the assistant coach of HC Vitkovice and the Czech U20 national team and was the head coach of Slovak Liptovsky Mikulas until last month
	12.28	HC Ambri Piotta has signed Canadian defenseman, Remi Roy (31) on a try-out. Royer comes from Olimpija Ljubljana (EBEL) where averaged a point per game in nine matches (3+6).

	20.19	CSK VVS Samara head coach Valery Panin returned to his hometown club Lada Togliatti. He was replaced by ex-Flyers forward Igor Koreshkov who played for Samara club for 7 seasons included 4 seasons in Superliga. After match against Izhstal Izhevsk was announced that CSK VVS in November will sign d-man Konstantin Oreshkin from Traktor-2 Chelyabinsk and forward Artem Dubinin from Lada-2 Togliatti.
	20.12	Goaltender Ivan Poloshkov signs a contract with Torpedo Ust Kamenogorsk until end of season. Polushkov returns to his former club after some month in russian Yugra Khanty Mansisk
	19.10	After a short try-out HC Lugano signed canadian forward Boyd Devereaux until Christmas, with option to extend deal until end of season. Devereaux, 31, played 627 games in NHL with Edmonton, Detroit, Phoenix and Toronto. He won Stanley Cup in 2001/02 with Detroit

	13.52	After 6 years from selection of project for new Icepalace in Bilbao, city sports' department decided to discard previous project presented by Juan Coll Bareu (same architect of Jaca Arena) and chose to build a tennis arena instead. 6 years ago, Bilbao major José Luis Uribarri said: "In few years we will have one of best three icehockey arenas in Europe". But a 18 million euro budget was the same cause that collapsed the idea. "The ice palace buried itself" said Bilbao sports' department director Jon Sustatxa. 	23.54	Frantisek Vyborny was surprisingly sacked today by Sparta Praha after four consecutive defeats. Also assistant coach Hynek was fired. David Volek, until now coach of farm team Beroun and Milos Holan, former Zvolen (SVK) coach are the new coaches' duo. "It was a very difficult decision - said Sparta president Viliam Sivek - Vyborny was the most successful Sparta coach. He gave us 3 titles."

	20.29	Finnish goaltender, Karri Rämö was named best goaltender of the week in the KHL. Last week, Römö (Avangard) made two shutouts in three games and produced an aggregate GAA of 0.67 and a SVS% of 97.5. Kevin Dallman (Barys), last season's defense scoring leader was named best defenseman of the week. Dallman produced 4 points (1+3) and +3 in three games. Czech striker Josef Vasicek (Lokomotiv) was named best forward of the week.
	20.06	Anze Kopitar, the Slovenian winger of Los Angeles Kings, has been named NHL player of the week. Kopitar leads the NHL with 10 goals and 11 assists in 12 games and is on track for a career year.
	13.12	Frisk Asker has signed René Corbet (36) for the rest of the season. Corbet was a Stanley Cup winner in 1996 with Colorado Avalanche and has since 2001 played for Adler Mannheim in the German Ice hockey League.

	13.03	Swedish forward Fredrik Bremberg who signed with Atlant Mytischy (KHL) in the off season and was released from his contract before the season even got started, has signed a short-term contract with Finnish Jokerit. Bremberg will make his debut in the SM-Liiga today

	17.04	Unia Oświęcim signed forward Mariusz Jakubik who has been released from his contract with Zagłębie Sosnowiec. Jakubik returns to Unia after three seasons playing for other Silesian teams, namely GKS Tychy and Zagłębie Sosnowiec.
	13.10	ATEK Kyiv, finished 3rd last season, hasn't submitted an application for the Ukranian League and will therefore not participate in the league in the 2009-10 season. ATEK has not yet given any reasons for its failure to file an application. ATEK\'s place in the league will be taken by Berkut Kiev, a historical Ukrainian team.

	19.42	Geleen Eaters resigns contract with forwards Mike McRae and Jason Dolgy. Team manager Huub Notten declared: \"Both imports can not bring what was expected by them, so we told them last night that we no longer need them\\\". The club is looking for replacements, probably new faces will come next week
	12.53	The Kwa Zulu Natal women’s team won the 2009 SA Women’s Championships held in Durban. This was KZN first tournament win in the past 15 years. The team from Gauteng took the Silver and Western Province the Bronze.

	19.33	Forward and Danish national team player Morten Madsen transfers from Houston Aeros (AHL) to MODO (SWE) on a tryout contract until 15 Dec. Madsen, drafted 4th round by the Minnesota Wild in 2005, is an offensive forward who produced 100 p. (32+68) with Victoriaville Tigres (QMJHL) in 2006-07. He then signed a NHL-entry contract with Minnesota Wild who attempted to transform him into a grinder, against his and his agent's wishes. "We have been listening to Minnesota Wild for two years now", Bjarne Madsen, Madsen's agent says, "but they are attempting to make him into another player than he really is. And it doesn't help his development".
	12.59	The All Stars game is back in Dutch hockey after some years and will be played on 6 February in Eindhoven. Here the best foreign players of the Dutch league, selected by the Eredivisie coaches, will play against the national team. The All Star game will be a part of Netherlands' road to IHWC Division 1 which takes place in Eindhoven in April.

	18.44	Poissompré arena, home of the Ligue Magnus team Epinal Dauphins, has been closed for security reasons and a date for reopening not set yet. At the moment Epinal is practising in Metz and the Saturday league match vs Mont-Blanc has been postponed indefinitely and all other home games will be rescheduled. A temporary mobile rink should be ready at 10 November when Epinal plays Grenoble.
	18.32	49 years old Canadian Sean Simpson will succeed Ralph Krueger as the Swiss national team coach after the IHWC in Germany in May 2010. Simpson, who currently coaches ZSC Lions has signeda 4-year deal with the Swiss ice hockey association.

	19.29	After a brief try-out SCL Tigers signs forward Luca Cunti (20) for the rest of the season. In the past two seasons, Cunti has played in North America with Rimouski Océanic (QMJHL) and Chicago Steel (USHL).

	22.52	Canadian forward and former NHL'er Brett McLean has signed a contract with SC Bern for the rest of the season. Earlier this season, McLean attempted to make his way back to the NHL but was cut early from Tampa Bay Lightning's training camp.
	22.49	Czech defenseman, Marek Malik, has after venturing several offers from abroad finally decided to sign a contract with HC Vitkovice. He could make his return to the Czech Extraliga as early as Tuesday when Vitkovice takes on the Champions of Karlovy Vary
	20.36	Struggling EBEL team Acroni Jesenice signed American goaltender Dov Grumet-Morris. Grumet-Morris played last season for the Graz 99ers. He has prior AHL & ECHL experience. Grumet-Morris had signed this past offseason with the ECHL's Utah Grizzlies, who suspended him when he subsequently signed with Jesenice & did not report.
	10.02	Vancouver Canuck's key player, Daniel Sedin has broken his leg and will be out 4-6 weeks.
	09.18	Kirill Kabanov immediately delivered in his first game in the Canadian Junior Leagues (CHL) by producing 4 points in Moncton's 8-1 rout over Halifax.

	12.49	Defenseman Christian Bäckman returns to Frölunda HC after all. Bäckman was very close to signing with the Swedish team during the off-season but eventually opted for a tryout with Florida Panthers. There, he failed the cut, and he is now expected to sign a long-term contract with Frölunda. Bäckman joins the team tomorrow and will play his first game in Elitserien on Tuesday.
	12.34	The IIHF has endorsed the transatlantic transfer of Kirill Kabanov, the talented Russian striker and projected top pick in the 2010 NHL draft. Kabanov will play for Moncton Wildcats in the QMJHL.
	11.47	Swiss forward Bernhard Schümperli (37) has retired. Schümperli played 20 seasons and around 900 games in the Swiss National League (170 g. and 190 a) and reached the height of his career when he won the Swiss championship with SC Bern in 1991 and 1992. He played 5 games for the Swiss national team
	09.40	Amur Khabarovsk's head coach, Anatoly Emelin has resigned after his team has only managed to win one of its last eight games. Emelin has been replaced with the assistant coach, Aleksandr Blinov.

	23.48	Austria's record international player Martin Ulrich has announced his retirement. Ulrich (40) has made 228 games for the Austrian national team and participated in 17 world championship tournaments and 3 Olympic games scoring a total of 15 goals. He made his national team debut 1989 when Austria beat the GDR in East-Berlin in the very last game the selection of Eastern Germany played. Ulrich spent much of his career in Germany where he celebrated 2 championships with Adler Mannheim (1997, 1998). In Austria he added 2 more titles with Red Bull Salzburg (2007, 2008). His last season of Ulrich spent in the Austrian second tier with Zell am See. Ulrich will stay involved in hockey working as a mental coach and also taking over coaching duties of the U18 national team.
	23.03	Anders Myrvold, the 34 year old maverick Norwegian defenseman, has finally found a new club after he was released from Stavager Oilers last Summer. Myrvold will play for Stjernen the rest of the season.
	17.10	Unia Oświęcim signed Czech defender Miroslav Javín from HKm Zvolen.
	14.23	Russian forward Denis Shvidky has signed a tryout contract with Kärpät Oulu. Shvidky played for SKA St. Petersburg (KHL) last season.

	21.43	Krefeld Pinguine is looking for a replacement for the long-termed injured defenseman Dusan Milo. The team has signed Stephen Wood to a tryout. Last season, Wood played in the Danish league for Esbjerg FB (15 p. in 32 games)
	14.04	Defenseman, Josef Melichar has extended his contract with HC Ceske Budejovice for the entire season.
	12.38	TKH Toruń further adds goaltender Bartosz Steporuka, which played last season in Stoczniowiec Gdańsk. Steporuka missed the summer preparation due to an Achilles injury.
	10.14	Vladislav Tretiak, the president of the Russian federation, will work as the General Manager of the Russian team in the Vancouver Olympics
	09.15	Nashville Predators have signed a one year two-way contract with Dave Scatchard worth US$550,000. Scatchard was immediately assigned with Nashville's AHL farm team, Milwaukee Admirals.

	19.28	TKH Toruń signed two Finnish Forwards: center Jermu Porthen from HIFK and winger Arto Koivisto which last season spend in Italian Pontebba. Koivisto previosly played in Jokerit Helsinki. Both players was singed on try-out.
	13.05	Radek Bonk, who was recently released from Lokomotiv Yaroslavl (KHL) has signed with HC Trinec (CZE) and will make his debut Friday vs Slavia Praha. In related league news, HC Litvinov has rented defenseman, Karel Pilar from Sparta Praha for a month.
	12.52	Canadian forward and former NHL'er Brad Smyth has signed with Medvescak Zagreb which plays in the Austrian Open League (EBEL). Smyth replaces Jeff Corey who didn't live up to the team's expectations.
	12.29	Hkm Zvolen adds another Finn to its roster, namely defenseman Matti Uusivirta (f. Ilves Tampere and Espoo Blues). Zvolen has recently signed two other Finns, i.e. forward Toni mäkiaho and defenseman Kimmo Pikkarainen.
	10.49	Kometa Brno has signed Canadian forward, Alex Bourret. Bourret, who has just turned 23, has played in the AHL the last three seasons collecting nearly 100 points. Bourret is the 7th North American in the Czech Extraliga this season, an all time record.
	10.21	Dynamo Moscow has found a new head coach, namely the famous striker, Andrei Khomutov. Khomutov will be assisted by Sergei Starikov, another great player of the mighty red machine.
	09.14	Forward Milan Lucic has extended his contract with Boston Bruins. The new three year contract is worth US$12.25 mio. Lucic, a 2006 2nd round pick, has played around 150 games for the Bruins, collecting 70 points.

	19.19	Former Stanley Cup winner Steve Kelly\'s engagement with Olimpija Ljubljana ended very quickly. Kelly only played 2 games (3 points) before his contract was annulled. Kelly will hence retire, Olimpija\'s website informs.

	20.02	ERC Ingolstadt has signed the experienced defenseman Ben Clymer. The 31 old American, who has played 454 NHL games, played for Dynamo Minsk in the KHL last season.

	20.09	Ukraine National Federation appointed Mikhail Zakharov as new national team head coach. Zakharov, 47, is currently head coach of Belarussian Yunost Minsk and will keep double charge. He signs a 1+1 year contract

	14.11	Sibir Novosibirsk signed expert forward Aleksei Akifiev. The veteran, who spent last year with Spartak Moscow, is at his 13th season in the Russian top league and has scored 226 points in 523 matches, with a career high of 34 in 2003-04 with SKA St. Petersburg.

	10.50	Stavanger Oilers posted a painful NOK10.3 mio. financial loss for the year 2008. This was the fifth year straight that the club's profit and loss sheet produced a minus (accumulated loss: NOK31 mio). The club is heavily indebted and is at the mercy of an investor group that is willing to finance the losses.

	22.10	Krzysztof Oliwa, the only Polish Stanley Cup winner, has become a director of the club ŁKH Łódź. ŁKH Łódź is a succesor of ŁKS Łódź, the club that collapsed in 1991, when the team was relegated to 2. Liga. Now ŁKH carry on the youth teams only, but activists and trainers of this club are hoping, that thanks to Krzysztof Oliwa, to Łódź will return a hockey on league level.
	21.10	Juha Kiilholma to Kärpät. Kärpät is suffering from injuries in the center department and they have rented Kiilholma from Hokki (Mestis) to replenish their depleted ranks. Kiilholma signed a one-month contract with Kärpät.
	21.10	Tomek Valtonen retires. The Jokerit forward was forced to an early retirement after a surgery that discovered the extent of damages in Valtonen\'s shoulder. Valtonen played 10 seasons and 402 games in SM-Liiga, all of them with Jokerit.
	21.10	Juha Uotila to Pelicans. Uotila has played the last four seasons in North America and last season the defenceman played in AHL for the Toronto Marlies. The contract with Pelicans covers this season and includes a one-month try-out.
	09.56	Avangard Omsk's superstar Jaromir Jagr decided to use the optional third year in his contract. He originally signed a "2+1" aggreement and thus now the deal with the Siberian team will last until 2011. Avangard's GM Anatoly Bardin added that they might sit down for a talk regarding a new, longer contract for the player as late as December. _____________
