KHL update: Glen Hanlon fired
Glen Hanlon was fired only minutes after Dynamo Minsk's 1-4 defeat to Amur. The KHL Board of Governors has come Lada Togliatti to the rescue with a financial injection. Lada honoured the decision by pulling a big win against the Eastern Conference's top dog, Metallurg Magnitogorsk.

Beating Dynamo Minsk 4-1, Amur Khabarovsk broke a 7 game losing streak, and within minutes, Minsk's famous head coach, Glen Hanlon was fired. It doesn't count that Minsk is off to a better start than in last season. After 15 games, Minsk has nearly twice as many points as after the first 15 games last season (20 vs 11 points).  The team's budget has been trippled and the roster seriously upgraded and Vladimir Naumov, the former president of the Belarussian hockey federation and who is now the chairman of Dynamo Minsk, expects the team to perform much better. Hanlon, who is the 3rd coach to be fired in the KHL this season, still coaches Belarus' national team, but his resignation from Minsk could have consequences for this position as well. An announcement will be made within a couple of weeks. Gomel's head coach Aleksandr Andrievsky has been appointed as the new head coach of Dynamo Minsk.

Lada Togliatti is still in serious financial troubles. Yesterday, the KHL Board of Governors decided to grant Lada RUB17 mio. from the KHL's emergency fund to cover the Lada players' expenses. Meanwhile, Lada pulled a surprisingly big 5-1 win against the Eastern Conference's top dog, Metalllurg Magnitogorsk.
